St. Clair College Partnership 

Over two years, water filters were carefully installed, and clean water storage and hygiene practices were implemented throughout the community. Annual maintenance, inspections, and water testing over the past five years have ensured the system’s long-term effectiveness.

This successful project started in April 2024 and was completed in 2026. Ongoing care has now been transitioned to village leadership, strengthening sustainability and local ownership. Guatemala Hope remains available to provide support as needed.

Scientific testing before and after implementation confirmed measurable improvements. Today, community members report fewer waterborne illnesses and take pride in the healthier, safer environment created through this partnership.

A cement block home with a solid roof and proper smoke ventilation significantly improves hygiene, safety, and privacy. Families are better protected from extreme weather, stray animals, and mosquitoes.

Venting cooking smoke reduces indoor air pollution, leading to improved asthma and respiratory health—especially for children and the elderly. These housing improvements create safer, healthier living environments and contribute to long-term community well-being.

To date, we have provided full or partial funding for the construction of over 80 cement block homes in the communities of El Triunfo, Esperanza, Guajilote, and Los Tiestos.

In the fall of 2021, cement floors were installed to replace dirt floors in all 55 bamboo homes in the village of El Tigre. The project was completed by spring 2022 through a collaborative effort between villagers, who generously provided labor, and Guatemala Hope, which funded the materials and construction costs.

The impact on daily life has been significant. Cement floors have improved household hygiene, reduced disease risk, and created healthier living environments for families throughout the village.

In February 2024 a new classroom was completed for the JK/SK class. Our generous donors and volunteers are responsible for the construction of a new roof, new furniture, school supplies, paint and decorations. 

This replaced the children’s former “classroom,” a simple hut made of palm branches and fence walls, with a palm-leaf roof and very old desks.

A modern furnished community house of medicine was opened officially in 2022. Local government, village leaders, and our charity made this dream a reality through cooperative planning and funding. 

Villagers contributed to the planning and supplied labor. This space has private treatment and examination rooms, safe storage areas for supplies, a pharmacy storage and dispensing area, a dental suite, clean water source, running water, bathrooms, lighting, electricity and window screens.

From 2007 to 2017, Guatemala Hope supported and participated in the development of irrigation systems in four villages. These systems made it possible for farmers to grow a third crop each year, increasing production by 50%, significantly increasing food production and household income.

Village leaders continue to highlight this initiative as a major success, noting its lasting impact on livelihoods and overall quality of life in the communities served.
