Ongoing Projects
Our team is always looking ahead, working closely with local leaders to identify the most pressing needs and sustainable solutions.

Explore our current initiatives and see how we're making a lasting impact in Guatemala—one project at a time.

1. Improving Access to Clean Water
Village leaders have identified a water distribution system for the village of El Triunfo as their top priority and have submitted a formal written request for support. This project will include water tower maintenance, completion of the distribution network, installation of water meters, integration of solar power, and establishment of a local utility system.
Guatemala Hope is actively seeking funding partners for this major initiative, including the local government's support, corporate donors, Rotary International grants, and partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
In El Triunfo, most family wells remain contaminated, and only half the village is connected to water lines. The El Triunfo Water Tower, which tested 99.9% clean, is not yet fully operational. As of April 2024, available water is 85% cleaner, with major health improvements—less diarrhea and stomach pain. We’re assessing whether to complete the tower system or shift to individual household filters for the 1,300+ residents in 225 homes.
We plan to assess sanitation and hygiene in El Triunfo to improve overall health and contribute to plans for improvement as needed.

2. Improving Access to Health Care
We plan to identify and support new village leaders within key groups, including women, girls, and youth.
Needs will be assessed collaboratively with key informants such as teachers, churches, local service providers, youth representatives, and village leaders to ensure a well-rounded and community-informed approach. We will also explore partnerships that expand access to local health services and increase utilization of the medical clinic in El Triunfo.
In addition, Guatemala Hope is investigating evidence-based initiatives used in developing nations to manage diabetes better, improve the health of children during the first 1,000 days of life, and address women’s health issues.

3. Continue to Support Education
Guatemala Hope plans to recruit expert volunteer education leaders to support the development of culturally appropriate surveys and evidence-based education programs aligned with our three core goals.
To ensure long-term sustainability, we will integrate clean water and health education initiatives into the local education system, helping equip students and families with knowledge that creates lasting change.
Within available resources, Guatemala Hope will also support the government’s planned expansion of the new school in El Triunfo, strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding opportunities for future generations.
