Clean Water: Progress & Next Steps
In El Tigre, 55 huts and 2 school classroom filters were installed at a cost of $11,500, bringing cleaner drinking water to 160 residents. Annual testing, maintenance, and education are in place to help villagers care for their systems long-term.
In El Triunfo, most family wells remain contaminated, and only half the village is connected to water lines. The El Triunfo Water Tower, which tested 99.9% clean, is not yet fully operational. As of April 2024, available water is 85% cleaner, with major health improvements—less diarrhea and stomach pain. We’re assessing whether to complete the tower system or shift to individual household filters for the 1,300+ residents in 225 homes.
